Scare Your Boundaries

You know that Comfort zone of yours?

The one where you feel comfortable in, funnily enough.

No worries. No scary moments. No growth. No goals to aspire to.

We all have them. We’ve all been in one. No risk. No pressure.

But life moves on.

You head toward and in to your forties. Then into your fifties. Then ..

You have a pile of regret.Scare your boundaries

When You stay cocooned in your own comfortable space [for whatever reason] you do become immune to the opportunities around You.

Missed opportunities that is.

You run the very real chance of stagnating.

Now that’s a pretty harsh word that one “stagnating”.

However it’s also a harsh situation finding yourself @50 regretting your missed opportunities. [Even worse @ 60]

Oh Yes, You did finally realise that life was moving on but you weren’t moving with it.

It’s not too late to start scaring your boundaries but it’s much better you do so in your 30’s & 40’s and then live an expanded life rather than one in a bubble.

Are You ready to Scare Your Boundaries?

Be good to yourself

Living Life Today – 8 Tips to beat the Midlife blues

“The Living Life Today series provides a platform to think about your Life as it is Now, enjoy what you have, review and create an even better future for tomorrow….. Short, sharp & easily digestible.

Well … you’ve heard about it, now you are living it. Midlife crisis here we are.

I’ve been there. However I discovered that living my Mid Life is a journey of exploration, learning (what, more?) and excitement (oh, Yes!)

It all comes down to Attitude. You have one Life to live (in this body) so why not live it the best way possible?MidLife3

8 Midlife blues busters:

  • Be excited … even when you are not …Find something to be excited about, it’s there
  • Learn something new each day (you’ve heard this a million times but it’s true)
  • Introduce something different to your routine each day … or at least each week …. mix it up a bit
  • Be a legal lunatic … you may go crazy if you are not … in other words enjoy being different, in fact strive to be different, break out … don’t fall into the ‘sameness’ trap
  • Love … Life, partners, nature, family, yourself … this is a deal breaker
  • Look forward to and imagine better days ahead … dream it up Big!
  • Be thankful that you are alive … because you are dead a long time. (that may shake you up a little) … and hopefully it does.
  • Laugh at most everything that happens to you

Be good to yourselves

“What if”…..the biggest question of them all

This is a great question. However it can be a two edged sword. When used as a rut busting question, this question can open up new thought processes.

When used as a statement of fact, it can reinforce the rut that you are already in.

What do You choose?…..

Here are just a few examples. Will these move you forward or leave you as you are?Today3

What if… I knew all the answers

What if… I could make decisions that would always be right

What if… I had enough money to buy what I wanted

What if… I was fit and healthy

What if… My Life was better

What if… all my dreams would come true

What if… I was Loved more

What if… I had more time

What if… I was famous

What if… I could imagine myself as a success

What if… I had goals for my Life

What if… I was motivated and inspired

What if… I didn’t have to do all this other “stuff”

What if… I could escape from all of this

Will you choose “What if” to open up new opportunities… Now, this moment?

Be good to yourselves

Living Life Today – Are you shackled or are you free?

The Living Life Today series provides a platform to think about your Life as it is Now, enjoy what you have, review and create an even better future for tomorrow”….. Short, sharp & easily digestible.

Walking around with the weight of the world on your shoulders is not exactly a great place to be.

We want to be FREE…ideally.

However, are we always Free?

No, not all the time. Some never are. We have issues to deal with.

Now the difference between being ‘shackled’ and being ‘Free’ is the ability to acknowledge that there will be stuff to deal with and people to deal with, that will make us “constrained” & somewhat burdened at times.

However also knowing that this is not how your Life will always be if you choose otherwise. That is, choosing a Life of freedom.

Those who do not choose freedom will be forever constrained. They will be weighed down by others’ concerns, expectations & demands…..and unable to see the light of day.

I suggest that to be Free, you need to acknowledge & deal with these “constraints”. And after each time you do so, flick the switch into ‘freedom’ mode.

Freedom being…doing whatever it is, work play or otherwise that gives you….. ‘room to move’, gives you creative muscle, gives you satisfaction, excites you and helps others.

If you can’t “flick the switch” then your constraints will likely tie you to a place that you’d rather not be. And you don’t want that, do you?

I’d love to hear your comments below…do you feel free or is there someone/thing tying you down?

be good to yourselves

3 Power packed ways to take positive action (when you haven’t a clue what to do)

This is a re-post of mine from last year with some additions/alterations. Hope you (still) enjoy…..

Warning! This is a Coaching post. It’s brief, there’s no mucking around, it’s straight to the point…(which is my intent  with most of my posts).

Further warning! Some of this language may offend or even worse, for my International friends, be too Australian (if that’s possible). There is some attempted humour but mostly it’s serious…….

Metaphorically speaking, if you are swimming against the tide, treading water, spinning your wheels, up sh*t creek without a paddle…you obviously need to take some action to get going forward & get out of this predicament.

Before you can start…….

You first need to Gain Traction

then ‘step by step’

build Momentum…..

Let’s identify what these steps really mean…..

“Traction” = stop the slide, gain some grip, shore up your defences, plug the gaps, review your ‘battle plan’, build a base, initiate thought processes

Often when I am coaching clients who have found themselves “on the slide”, I ask them to visualise the last time they tasted success, anchor themselves to that point…then commence the building process.

“Step by Step” = one foot in front of the other, constant movement, thought supported by action, never give up, keep punching, “motion with motivation”

It’s often the small steps which count the most. Especially in the stages of recovery from sliding or being frozen stuck. Just making those steps, with persistence is critical to you making any longer term gains.

“Momentum” = success thoughts colliding with action, on a roll, unbeatable, it’s all downhill from here, effortless motion, well oiled machine

Having “momentum” is where it’s at Life Lovers. When we build and maintain Momentum then there is No holding us back.

These three “steps” may seem simple, in fact they are. I’ve found (and you may have too) that often the simple things, the blindingly obvious, are the ones oft overlooked or not even sighted……they elude our personal radar.

When you find yourself on the slide & you will at some stage, step back & look for some traction. Something that will give you some grip & leverage from which to move forward.

Once again, using the details above…….

When you put your traction in place, you can then start moving step by step, continually motivating yourself to keep going.

This will in turn, build your momentum…….

You are on your way (again).

Does this make any sense to You? I’d love to hear your comments.

Before you do, please check out the latest posts from these 2 blogging friends of mine. I had FUN reading them, you may as well.

Feel like you are out of your Depth?…..A Simple way to get level with a 3 step formula

Hello fellow Life Lovers. There are times for all of us when we feel ”out of our depth”…..unchartered waters so to speak…whether it’s caused by…

Fear of the unknown OR fear of the known (results of doing/not doing) & our current circumstances.

Being in ‘deep water’ will manifest all types of fears…..and excuses. Quickly, these get out of control. It is likely that you are imagining all sorts of dire consequences.

“Imagining”, now there’s a key word.

If you have followed me (and I am really grateful that you have) the past few months, you will be aware of my many thoughts on Imagination…..here’s an example

Instead of ‘imagining all sorts of dire consequences’…try imagining a better picture/a better scenario…..A Simple Way of doing this…

The Three (3) steps

Imagine yourself ‘in your new picture’…Transport yourself via vibrant, fresh thoughts to the place or situation where you want to be…..this is so powerful

Reinforce ‘your picture’…see it clearly , breathe it deeply, touch it lovingly. This may seem simplistic however you must be able to see yourself as you imagineyou are ‘there’ doing all the things that you imagined. It must become a part of you, your thinking, your future.

Believe in ‘your picture’…a ‘no brainer’ really if you’ve mastered steps 1 & 2 however Belief is a very deep thing (I seem to have a fixation with depth today). Belief goes further than ‘re inforcement’ in my opinion. You are attaching your soul to your picture.

It doesn’t get much deeper than that.

Does that seem simple enough?

Living Life Today – When you must draw a Line in the Sand

I’ll come clean…this post is partly a “redo”. I originally posted “Drawing a Line in the Sand” early last year in my embryonic blogging days. I feel very strongly about this topic so I couldn’t resist re posting, this time under the Living Life Today series banner. I have made a few tweeks. Hope you enjoy.
The Living Life Today series provides a platform to think about your Life as it is Now, enjoy what you have, review and create an even better future for tomorrow”….. Short, sharp & easily digestible.

  • How much do you put up with?
  • How many Excuses do you give yourself?
  • Why is “Procrastination” your middle name?

There comes a point in one’s Life when enough is enough. This can relate to what you do……. and what others do to you.

  • Do you want to keep playing ‘the victim’?
  • Are you happy to be mediocre rather than great?
  • Do you put up with unnecessary crap?… or any crap for that matter.
  • Do you lack the freedom to express yourself OR the will to do so?
  • Are you choice poor? Or choice avoidant?
  • Are you stuck in a rut?

Could it be time to draw a line in the sand?…… No more crap, no more mediocrity, no more lack of or avoidance of choice, no more excuses, no more playing the ‘victim’

Stand up, be counted, stretch yourself, shine & do your very best!

Now, is it time for you to draw a line in the sand?…..

Be good to yourselves

David
