Living Life Today – A little Joy in a world of turmoil

“The Living Life Today series provides a platform to think about your Life as it is Now, enjoy what you have, review and create an even better future for tomorrow….. Short, sharp & easily digestible.

Things happen. Many things happen that we don’t understand. There seems no reason. It is the world we live in.

Out of despair comes hope. Hope that the “senseless” happenings will stop and we can see reasons for all that does happen to us, not be dismayed by what occurs at random.

We must seek Joy, regardless of what occurs around us…..otherwise the darkness descends and stays with us.

Today, we need a ‘pick-me-up’… it is (different version this time)

Live, Love, Laugh…..3 of the reasons to abide by these ‘Laws of Life’

I was just thinking. Thinking out loud and came up with a few simple notations on the life that we live….. Or some of us do

Here are three of my Laws of Life.

The Three Laws of Life

  • To make a Life you need to Live it.

  • To enjoy a Life you need to Love it.
  • And to Love a Life you need to Laugh a lot.

Well, how about You?

Do you tick all the boxes here?

do you tick one or two?

To live Life fully, all three must be present in your Life. All three must be embraced by You.

“To make a Life, you need to Live it”.

What is “Living”? being aware of your surroundings and …what You are capable of. Then using this awareness to create a Life that you want. That’s a simplistic answer I know. However much of our lives can be lived more fully by adopting a “simpler view of things”. You’ve no doubt heard a million times how good, great, powerful you are. Believe it.

You have the power to Live fully. Just be aware of this power.

“To enjoy a Life you need to Love it”

What’s this guy banging on about, you may be thinking. We go thru periods of enjoyment. We have our ‘ups & downs’. Life is not always enjoyable. Some experience very little joy at all…..“Life sucks” syndrome.

However, if you take a different viewpoint and accept that their will be ups & downs…and love them for what they are, then Life may not suck so much. We can learn a lot from the “downs”. And consequently have greater enjoyment from the “ups”. Love your Life as it is, or how it can be or how you want it to be…just Love it.

It’s there for your taking.

“And to Love a Life you need to Laugh a lot”.

Not necessarily, you may be a serial smiler. However I did want to include this ”law”. I don’t know anyone who truly loves their Life and can’t crack a smile. In fact I bet that most true lovers of Life split their sides with laughter regularly. “Laughter is the best medicine”. Heard that one before?

Laughter is feel good music. It adds to the symphony of Life…and you have to Love that.

Do these ‘laws’ resonate with you? I welcome your thoughts and comment below.

Be good to yourselves

Where’s the “Cash”?

Hello fellow Life lovers,

So, where is the “cash” in your Life?

Do you have it or are you still seeking it?…..What is “the cash” to you?

A Super Yacht, sports car, mansion house, Holiday home on a tropical island, gold bullion, 10 million blue chip shares/stock? OR maybe

#…….a beautiful smile, a wink of encouragement, a pat on the back or a handshake for support. A magnificent sunrise or breathtaking sunset. A flower opening to full bloom, a baby laughing, a warm embrace from a loved one, a sincere “Thank you”.

All of these # make me feel warm inside…..these are “cash in the Bank” moments for me (please note, I don’t have any of the former but hey, they would be nice)

However I still need cold hard cash, my everyday walk around currency. “Survival food” in the jungle of Life. So where is it?

Is it in your day “job”, writing blog posts, having a bet on the horses, gambling on the internet, hustling at pool at the corner bar. Is your “boss” the cash?, winning the Lottery, selling your unwanted ‘things’?

OR is it in your Network, your friends, your loved ones?

When you work out what you value, what Life means to you, you immediately become richer, choices become clearer. And when you do, I believe that the cash ( & more of it) is drawn to you.

Truth be known, the “cash” is in your hands. You are the cash, you are a walking, negotiable currency able to be friended, be loved & able to love & to give your friendship. Cash changes hands every day. Some stays in the till, some gets circulated, some gets stashed away (for a rainy day).

Circulate the cash my friends. It’s great for the human economy….. keep circulating, keep loving because a ‘rainy day’ may never come.

be good to yourselves

7 Key Lessons that I learned from my Dog, Sam

This is a short story on how I have ”mirrored” or indeed “modelled” some of my faithful dog’s attributes to my Life. Now I am not suggesting that you hire a dog as your Coach or Mentor, however there are things to be learned/ considered from circumstances outside the norm. Truly, the possibilities are always endless. Anyway just humour me a little…..My Dog Sam "chilling" as usual

  • Persistence
  • Appreciation(Faithfulness)
  • Enthusiasm
  • Follow through(thru)
  • (Dogged) Determination
  • Chill
  • Love

These are all characteristics that I associate with Sam. These are also characteristics that I have learned are useful in pursuing the things that I enjoy. Sam has helped me reinforce these into my psyche.

Persistence …You have to have it. If you feel that you are on a winner, keep going, don’t stop and never, ever , ever give in. Does your dog “shadow” you like mine until he gets what he wants?

Appreciation… when someone says something, does something that you really like…tell them or show them how much you appreciate it. It will come back to you ten fold. Sam lies at my feet, nuzzles up next to me when I have “done him good”. You might not want to try that specifically however hopefully you get my point.

Enthusiasm…Boy is it contagious or what! If you’ve been around “enthusiastic” people you know that it rubs off onto you. Show enthusiasm & people will gravitate toward you. Ever seen a dog wag his tail? then I need say no more.

Follow through(thru)…when you start something or say that you will do something, then keep the action going. Follow through with your sales leads, personal contacts, Business contacts. Don’t leave anybody or any thing “hanging”. I have never seen Sam leave a bone or any food for that matter, unfinished…..he follows through on what he started.

Determination… similar to ‘Follow thru’ & ‘Persistence’ however with a “dogged” touch to it. Determination is what I call a start up trait. One needs to be determined to initiate the actions that will bring one success, joy, happiness. When determination is present, Follow thru & Persistence are flow ons…… (like a dog with a bone, he wants one & is determined to get it, then finishes the job)

Chill… If you’ve read some of my recent posts including Just Chilling then you know that I am a fan. Sam is one of the best “chillers” that I have come across…..check the photo for proof. Make time to “Chill” & reflect on your gratitudes.

Love… One of the best feelings. One that I have felt before & on numerous occasions however my faithful dog is always loving regardless. Something that I have learned is extremely valuable. The love of my faithful friend is all consuming.

# What can you learn from your dog, pet or something/someone a little outside the norm? Please let me know.

Time moves on…….cherish the Moments

Today is my 30th Wedding Anniversary! It’s freaky how time gets away from you. It obviously got me thinking “where has the time gone?”…….

However more importantly…… how have I spent my time, what joys have I received & shared and have I been a good father and husband?

I spoke of “prescious now moments” in a recent post Make Time for your Life. To my mind there has never been a more true coinage of words. Moments come, moments go. Grab the moments and cherish them.

This is only a brief post as I have intended to make just a simple point. Think about how you can gain the maximum from every moment, regardless of what you are doing…….it may be crappy, it may be joyful… can still seek the best out of each moment, or at least learn from them.

Today I will be reflecting on what has passed and what is yet to come………

Be good to yourselves
