Heading toward 60 … the countdown commences

“The countdown commences” ….. I turn 60 on 18 December 2014, 15 months from Today. Wow! … What I intend doing is to continue enjoying my adventure today, tomorrow and so on. The age “60” is just a number, nothing more, nothing less. Life60

Why tell you all of this? Apart from a bit of self indulgence, I want to share my ongoing adventure, my thoughts and (lessons that I have learned and am still learning along the way) right up to that “magic number”.

It’s a bit of a shock, really. I’ve never considered myself arriving at this point in my life. I knew that I would get there one day of course … but not now. I mean, I feel as though I am still 40.

As far as I’m concerned age is irrelevant. It’s what each of us does with our day, that’s relevant. Fresh thoughts, excitement, vibrancy, taking positive action … these are the types of things that you can do at any age.

I intend continuing this theme until “I leave the house”. And when that happens, I want to be carried out in style with the appropriate music, just like this. A blast from the past however Norman Greenbaum’s classic “Spirit in the Sky” does it for me.

Have a listen, it’s catchy …

For now, it’s “business as usual”, much left to achieve, much left to imagine, create and put into action. Enjoy your day, enjoy your life.

Be good to yourself

  1. 🙂 I know exactly what you’re saying, David. I personally feel stuck at 24. But next week, I’ll be 50 – just seeing those words make me marvel that I’ve spent so many years of my life, living! :My goal now is to make every day count in a positive way. Wonderful post, as always!

  2. Don’t fret over being 60. The same thing happens to me next September. I’m looking forward to it, to tell you the truth. Going backward in age is bound to be boring. After all, we’ve been there and done that. Going forward means new adventures, both within the world and within ourselves.

  3. I am not far behind…I never expected to be here at 50…hippie and Viet Nam vet…
one was bound to have an exit door for me but I am still here..
so each day I take one step at a time..still curious as to why I am here ….
though I did cross once and still came back!..age is not relevant to me anyhow…
    good post
I look forward to hear your journey….
