Living Life Today….. Choices, intentional & unintentional

The Living Life Today series provides a platform to think about your Life as it is Now, enjoy what you have, review and create an even better future for tomorrow”….. Short, sharp & easily digestible.

Choice” is a dominant factor in how we live our lives and how our lives pan out. We are always making choices whether we realise it or not.

You will no doubt,  have your own reasons for consciously choosing this or choosing that.

The blessing is, that we actually have choice, therefore it goes to reason that we should use it wisely.

However, realising that one can actually make a choice as opposed to merely ‘accepting what is‘, is something entirely different. Our mind can go into autopilot at times, quite often actually, thoughts run rampant, actions become second nature, we run with the pack…..choices are made, unknowingly.

How do you overcome this random choice factory, this production line of automated choices, signed off without your consent?

I suggest, choosing to pause on occasion and become aware of the subconscious choices that you are making could make the world of difference.

Try making this a habit, question these automated  ‘choices’…….are they right for you?…do you give them consent or do you choose differently?

What do you think about that?…..I’d love you to share your thoughts below.

Be good to yourselves

  1. Hi David,

Great post! I believe we have the unique capability of being aware of our own choices. There is no other creature on earth who can do it better … ( at least in my understanding 🙂 )

Becoming aware of our own choices and be able to consciously choose for what we value and at the same time be at service for so many people as possible, is the greatest gift we got when we were born.

    Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. Than you Marc!
Being aware is helpful… many are unaware that choosing our thoughts & actions is valuable in our personal growth…or at least the ability to choose rather than have someone else ‘choose’ for us.

  2. Choice is the greatest freedom. Viktor Frankl says it best: “The last of the human freedoms is to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances.”
But I know you’re writing about choice in all aspects, not just attitude.
We sometimes even choose by not choosing, by default. That’s an inactive, by product decision.
We need to be aware, as you say, of making conscious, mindful decisions and not just be on auto-pilot continuing along our status quo path.

  3. Oh the word Choice – a beautiful sound to my ears – so many times we are on autopilot and the choices come without thinking – sometimes we choose from our core beliefs that we have been programmed with.

The beauty of life is living in the choice of freedom and truth to ourselves.

    In love and light,

  4. Hi David,

Exactly my friend, we always have a choice in life, this is why we have to be careful to choose the best for our life. 😉 Thanks for sharing David

  5. Hi David,

You express it so well in your post. Choice makes the difference on whether we or others are controlling our life. When we take the time to choose, for example, our reactions to others, we gain back our power. Our life can take on a whole new direction. Take care.

  6. Hi David,
I remember reading a line by Neale Donald Walsch where he says to decide not to decide(make a decision) is still a choice. That has always stuck with me till this day.

  7. Hi David,

Choice we make are very important and you make this very clear. As i said in my last post we can make a choice to either contribute to our own lives and other lives or we can contaminate our life or others.

We we choose to contribute we don’t stay on pause and auto pilot. What I find myself doing is making my choices not what the world or other people think. By doing this I see the positive side of my choices which contributes to my life and others. (OK, maybe sometimes a mess up. LOL)

After all when we do make a wrong choice, we have the option to learn by it.
Thanks again David and blessing to you always,

    1. Hi Debbie, thankyou for another great contribution.
Choosing from your own ‘truth’ is the way to go….and as you say, you are then contributing to Life on your terms, not being contaminated by others.
      be good to yourself
