Do You Follow Your Intuition?

For many years I wondered exactly what “self-love” was. Was it eating healthy foods, taking a bath, perhaps getting a pedicure? If I was doing all the things I was “supposed” to be doing would that qualify as self-love?

I discovered self-love was partly about taking care of my internal and external body. But more importantly, it was about listening to the voice of my intuition and then following it. This meant eating certain foods when my body expressed a desire to have those foods. Taking a bath not because a bath is supposed to be relaxing, but because at that particular moment it was important to dim the lights, bring out the candles, and sink into a hot bath alone. And self-love meant listening to intuition about when to take action on a dream or goal, instead of overriding it and then saying, “When will I ever learn!”

What is Intuition?
Intuition is the ability to get a sense, understanding, or feeling about something. It an instinctive knowing, feeling sure, having a gut sense about something. Your intuition is an aspect of you, it is an extension of you. It is how you speak to yourself about getting yourself together. It’s about making new choices that move you forward into advantageous possibilities. Your intuition can help you see when you are staying in balance, or if you are getting pulled out of balance by other people or events.

Intuition is not a “gift” that only certain psychic people possess. Instead, it is your steadily awakening and unfolding purpose for being alive. It has been said that intuition is your own voice of higher consciousness, or your own divine spirit talking to you. Developing your intuition is one of the first steps to living a more fulfilling life.

To sharpen your intuition, start paying attention! Invite yourself to notice and trust the subtle insights, feelings, and hunches that rise up as you go through your day. Begin to tune in to your intuition now and you’ll have more insights and hunches than ever before!
