3 reasons to get your day kickstarted the right way

Coffee helps me start my day. However, that’s only part of the deal.

Mostly, I am ready to roll. Sure, some caffeine in a cup or two just makes the start to each day that little bit sweeter…but there’s more to my day and yours, than just coffee.

Your day is another opportunity to live. Obvious statement. However what’s not as obvious is the fact that many do not appreciate the gift they have been given. “Just another day” many will groan. This day will not repeat itself. This day has opportunities that you may never see again.

Therefore, this day is unique. This day is a gift that can be only opened once.

Your day is another opportunity to ‘make your mark’ on the world. Step out with Purpose. This day is Yours. Your Goals & Dreams are taking shape and today is another step in the right direction. A direction that will see you achieve what you are seeking.

Your Life has a Purpose, no doubt about it. It is however, your job to find that Purpose…and that’s part of the fun. I believe that your “Purpose” will vary thru Life. Many are seeking their “purpose” like a holy grail…you may be already living your purpose…do what you enjoy and do it with passion!…this day.

Your day is a day to connect. Connect with your inner self. Connect with your family, your friends. A day to connect with and to, like minded individuals. We are all connected in some way on this planet. It’s not blindingly obvious at the moment however isn’t it serendipitous when we do “connect”? Usually completely unexpectedly.

The power of connection is there to grab hold of. When we step into a new day, there are more connections waiting to happen. When we put ourselves out there, each day…..these serendipitous happenings occur.

The Imagination series (episode 2)

Hi fellow Life Lovers,

This is the 2nd instalment in my series of short, thought provoking, imagination themed blog posts. Hope you enjoy…..

Imagination dwells inside each of us. Ever waiting to be released from it’s dormancy, often in a burst of mind numbing spontaneity.

Shed light on your imagination, often.

A major key to effect vivid imagining is to -  “Imagine when.…. not imagine “if“

Imagining “when” something happens is embracing what I call, the “substance” of imagination. It is bringing your imagined (previously locked up, never to be released) thoughts into the open where they can blossom into your reality.

“To imagine just once, kindles the glow……to imagine often, lights up the entire world.”

Why not give that some thought (or imagination) and see if it lights up your world.

40-60 your Age of Learning & Discovery (part 2)….the journey continues

This 2nd part of our post is designed to make you think more deeply about where you are currently situated in Life and where you are aiming to be “down the road”. In the first post , “learning” was a focal point along with discovering more about you & asking the right questions.

I would like to dedicate  part 2 on what to learn to ensure that you move in the direction that is right for you. This is what I believe will help;

LEARN to be aware…..of your thoughts & your subsequent actions

LEARN to observe your behaviour….step outside of yourself for a look in

LEARN that there is no end to “learning”

LEARN to ask questions of yourself…….don’t just accept any outcome

LEARN that your current outcomes are a result of your current thoughts

LEARN that if you want to change your outcomes, change your thoughts

• (Re) Establishing a pattern of personal excellence, particularly in your mid life, will ensure you live the rest of your Life with vibrancy, discover new horizons, broaden existing ones and set continual ‘personal bests’. If this is new to you, great!

ASK plenty of “what if” questions…….don’t just accept ‘what is’…….consider ‘what if ‘. Asking this will open up new possibilities. In fact, it will open up everything.

”What if I could…….dream of a great future

“What if I can……. have the Life that I want NOT just accept ‘what is’

“What if I would allow……. myself to feel the passion of Life before it slips away

“What if I forgive myself for……. past ‘indiscretions’ & move forward with a clean slate

“What if I thank……. my higher authority for allowing me another chance

• There are many more. Add your “what if ” questions to this list or make a list of your own.
•  Most importantly tap in & use your Imagination

N.B      Do not allow “what if’s to dominate in such a way as to cause you to keep saying “what if”. At some point, preferably the sooner the better, “what if” converts to “what can…..”, i.e ‘can do actions’. Convert the possibilities in to probabilities otherwise you will remain wondering & be in a state of limbo.

I trust that your Life’s journey is an enjoyable one.

21 Self Discovery Questions to enrich your mid life Journey

Around the age of 40, your perspective on Life often changes (or not for some). For some (good) reason our Thoughts turn to the 2nd half of our lives and how we can continue/start to enjoy or improve our lot…..it did for me at least.  I’d like to throw a few questions at you for your consideration, fascination, procrastination, motivation or what other “ation” grabs your fancy.

Can these questions (I’m sure there are more) get your minds percolating with fresh effervescent ideas? or at least, to take a good look at where you’re currently at & where you would like to be?……I hope so.

• How do I really want to live the rest of my Life

• What impact on myself, my significant others do I want to make in the next 10 years

• What’s vitally important to me Now

• What, if any changes do I need to make

• What support will I need if I decide to make changes

• who will be affected(by my changes)

• Are my Belief systems valid, up to date or need renewal

• What are my top 3 personal Values that I want to live my Life by

• How can I improve my health & fitness

• how much of my potential am I prepared to tap in to

• am I happy

• Is my Love strong enough

• what Life Goals do I need to set

• do my skills need upgrading

• what new skills do I wish to learn

• what are my passions

• what am I prepared to do to achieve the Life of my dreams

• what am I prepared to forego to achieve………

• how can I share myself, my passions, my skills with others

• How do I see myself, my self perception

• what is my perception of the World….do I fit in or do I want to

* Well, have these helped or hindered?

Mid Life Adventure – A Roadmap for the 40+’s

Wow! So you have reached the ripe age of 40. Notice that I didn’t say “the ripe old age of 40″? That’s because you are not old. Anyway “old” is a term I find quite useless. It lacks specific definition i.e what is “old”?….ok enough of this, let’s get back on track……..I have survived my forties and made some pretty significant life choices along the way. You too can embark upon and enjoy your own mid life adventure!!

In my previous posts, Beating the Mid Life Blues and Setting Life Goals After 40 I  mentioned, enjoyment of Life and setting Goals as well as many others. While many of the points that I raised are important, these two however  are vital.

Enjoying Life, having fun are the first parts of the Roadmap, the starting point to your journey, your adventure. They are what we are all  here for. If you are not strapped in ready for a fun-filled, enjoyable adventure, you may as well stay parked in the garage.

What do you enjoy the most in Life? What’s fun for you?…..What makes your heart sing? These are questions that I have asked of myself and also of my Life Coaching clients. They go to the essence of who we are and who we need to be to enjoy the next stage of our life, the start of our journey from 40 and beyond.

Now to formulate or create your Roadmap you will need Directions. This can come in the form of establishing goals or from a general sense of knowing where you are heading,  i.e   Where do you want to go(with your Life)?

I have observed that some people thrive with setting goals, others prefer charting a particular direction which allows “detours” along the way. Why not, it’s an adventure after all! “Detours” allow you the option of deviating to check ‘what else is there which may be useful to me’, without the structure of a defined goal/path. Either way will get you moving.

Questions you may wish to ask yourself to establish your Directions  could be…..e.g What do I want to achieve?  What is most important to me? Short term, mid term , long term goals…..What do I want waiting for me at the end of the road?  What am I leaving behind that I may wish to take with me?  What will it take to make it to the end? What if……..?

N.B There may be a lot of “what if’s” however to move forward with your journey, they need to be put to rest. Otherwise they will haunt you and you will not start  - can the “what if’s”.

Short term & mid term goals can be designed to be stop off points for your journey. Rest stops where you can stay a while, reflect on your progress thus far, enjoy your successes & spend time to review your longer term strategy/end goals/destination.

The amount of goals/destinations that you establish for your journey is entirely up to you. However, keeping the fun happening with creative goal setting and imaginative directions  will allow you to enjoy this stage of your life and the journey beyond…….Now, what are you going to do about your life?….how about getting excited!?

Do you have (a) clear Vision?

Do you have an end goal in Life? Is your inner Compass set in the right direction? or are you just getting by day to day?

Your Personal Vision is what you want to be, do, feel, think, own and associate with and impact by some date in the future. Now that’s just  a summary of what a personal vision can be. The ingredients that make up  your personal vision can be many & varied because we are all different.

If you do not have a vision of/for your future, you will likely be at the mercy of “what the world throws at you”. Now, there will always be obstacles in your way, however without a roadmap you will get lost – your “vision roadmap” can keep you heading in the right direction.

A Vision for your life also creates a spark, a vibrancy, a spring in your step – that’s the way to go! …..So, what are you thinking about know? Is it possible to create a vision all of my own…yes it is!  To start, you just need to clean your personal windscreen a little, that’s blocking your view of the world, add a little attitude (positive preferably), a dose of willpower and light the spark  and you can then start to steer a course that has you in control of your Life.
