Why clearing your clutter will save your Life

What types of things do you tolerate in your life?

Are they excuses, disappointments, frustrations, put downs, same old same old, anger, doubt, negative people, lack of…..?

It doesn’t have to be this way!

We all experience these at various points in our Life. However there is no reason to tolerate them and accept them as ‘normal’. Do so and they will become an immovable part of your Life, just like a long term squatter…..and that is bad.

When you let this type of clutter invade and be a large part of your Life, then your Life no longer becomes yours.

You become a victim of external circumstances which will take control over your Life.

Are these ‘missing’ in your day to day living?…Fun, surprise, joy, success, spontaneity, achievement, excitement, money, love, friendship, positivity, imagination, goals.

Clear the clutter of disappointment, excuses, frustration, negativity and the like… it’s time for a fresh startAnd introduce the ‘missing’ activities to your daily living.

You only have one life to live and from today you are your No.1 priority. Because if you are not “in tune”, then the people nearest and dearest to you can not prosper either.

Your health and wellbeing are paramount.

When you are ‘cluttered’, you are in effect…damaged goods.

By ‘clearing the clutter’ I am talking about mental and physical – get rid of the physical things around you that no longer serve any worthwhile purpose. Clear your desk, your home, garage, yard. Set a clean slate and start afresh.

Take time to clear your mind of unwanted/ negative thoughts that are holding you back/ stopping you from being the person the great creator intended. Let go of the toxic people in your Life. Short term ‘friends’ can become life long enemies to your personal wellbeing.

I suggest that you let go of what you have been unnecessarily putting up & keeping in your Life. Aim for a fresh start now – renew, revitalise, re-ignite….. and you can then start living the life you deserve instead of having your Life suffocated by others and “stuff” that serves no value to you.

Living Life Today – Kick some Butt when your Energy is High

To fully live each day, our energy levels need to be at maximum. On a physiological level, that is extremely difficult to maintain throughout an entire day.

And on a mental level, equally so.

However, fuelling our energy levels with exercise and proper diet helps give us ” the best chance possible” to be at an effective energy output…..physically.

On a mental level, frequently fuelling ourselves with positive thoughts, avoiding draining situations and people, maintains high mental energy reserves.

The more positive the re-inforcement and the more regular, the better our energy reserves.

Sure we will have ‘down times’…..times when we are necessarily affected by external circumstances and times when we simply have to take a break…..and that’s fair enough.

Again, I am talking about giving ourselves “the best chance possible here”.

Having an Attitude that will pick you up at the right times is what I call, a terrific “energy aide” & provides a timely Boost.

Here’s 3 more kick butt energy aides that may help you get things done more effectively…..and more often:

  • Tune into your energy frequency, know & select the times of each day when you feel at peak energy… and make them your ‘kick butt’ sessions
  • ”Fuel up” on positive thoughts & positive readings when you are feeling a little flat. Absorb what nature has for you, be aware of your surrounds…be thankful…drink it in
  • Exercise your body daily as well as your mind. Keep physically fit and eat nutritious food regularly…consult a health practitioner if necessary.

Be your own Champion

I wrote a similar post earlier this year called Love what you do Become your own Guru.

And on this theme, I would like to introduce you to your own ”Champion self”.

Inside of you is a Champion, your own champion.

A Champion urging you on to greater things…..greater thoughts, greater actions, greater outcomes.

Tap into your inner Champion and bring out the best in yourself.

When you are in “Champion mode”, Life is a breeze.

So, how do you summon your Champion? How do you bring your Champion out (of hiding)?……read on please.

A Champion goes to the edge & is comfortable being out on the edge. A Champion has belief that the ‘edge’ has plenty of space. Space enough to do what needs to be created, needs to be be done.

You see, our Champion is in our thought system. Being aware that we all have Champion qualities is our key to bringing our Champion in to the open. Simply believe this & have faith that your champion will be there for you when you need him/her the most.

Our Champion probably doesn’t wear a cape, our Champion may seem unassuming. However don’t be fooled for when our Champion gets into stride, Champion things begin to occur, our thoughts become actionable without question, without delay.

Have you felt this at some time? You take immediate action, you are in control, you make things happen. These ‘things’ may seem insignificant to others maybe even to yourself, however your Champion mode is now in full throttle and you are cruising, creating & getting stuff done.

Think it, Believe it, Act upon it.

So when you feel a little flat, a little down…start thinking ‘champion thoughts’ because champions get stuff done that others don’t dare do…and you have that champion inside of you.

Living your Mid Life – 6 things that I learned, can be done with Purpose instead of Ho Hum

I’m a Mid Life ‘tragic’. My journey through the Mid Life years has been interesting to say the least. Mostly enjoyable, definitely a learning experience…..isn’t that what Life throws at us?… a lot of learning

We learn all through Life. Our Mid Life years have a different type of learning attached and this is what this post is about. I’ll get straight to the point (as usual)…

Love each moment…..and I mean it. There is not a finite amount left, leave no regrets

Ask many questions…..Yes, there are more to ask & there is always more learning. Learning keeps you young. To learn you need to ask, then you can experience and enjoy

Share your experiences…..it is difficult to fully appreciate your Life unless you share…..with lovers, with family, with friends…..sharing adds value

Imagine your bigger picture…..always work toward a bigger picture, a bigger goal…..this keeps the juices flowing & prevents staleness. Mid Life is about extracting maximum value from Life not sitting idle and looking on.lake-eyre Australia that's big

Care enough, in fact care more…..about you and others and what your Life holds for you and most importantly…..how you will live your Life…..it’s not a joke, it’s your Life

There’s nothing you can’t do…and there’s time in which to do it…..don’t stress, instead enjoy. Don’t say “it’s too late” or “I’m too old”…..that’s B.S Savour and value each day. Play the Game as it’s meant to be played…..with Purpose and you will find the time to do what you want to do.

The 5 Deadly Sins…..How to turn them around

There are things that you need to do and there are things that you should avoid. When speaking with my coaching clients and potential clients, there are 5 ‘problem areas’ that consistently occur and inevitably hold them back from achieving so much more (or indeed, achieving anything)…You can Change

Procrastination…..an absolute art form. Why do something when you can put it off “for a better time”…..enough said

Excuses….. there’s got to be some reason not to do this, right?

Lack of Belief…..well I have never done this before, so I guess I probably won’t be able to do this now

No Game Plan/Goals/Vision…..what?

No Direction…..I don’t know where I am actually going, we’ll just see what happens…ok?

You probably get the picture. There’s no time like NOW to repent your “sins” and get the train back on the tracks otherwise it will be ‘trainwreck’ time.

I’m not a great one for rules or regulations however there are certain ‘unwritten’ standards that are worth adhering to. Turn the 5 ‘sins’ above right around and you are very likely to start kicking some goals.

Don’t Procrastinate…..just ‘do’ or wipe it completely…you will feel better either way

No Excuses….. you might want to check this out…always be aware of the subtle ones

Start Believing…..in yourself. Start with some small victories, then build. If you don’t believe in yourself then it’s extremely hard for others to do so…it starts with you

Set some Goals…..as in above, set some small ones to get used to achievement then build…and add some ‘bite’ & ‘meaning’ to them. Create a Vision of how you see your Life in 10, 20 years and start aiming…this will build some purpose.

A sense of Direction…..certainly handy to have. Add some detours for fun but create a journey of excitement. No doubt unexpected detours will occur however they may open up further possibilities…enjoy & take some control of your Life.

Living Life Today – When adding some “greed”, can actually help

Settling for more rather than less is a main aim of mine this year…….

Taking a bigger slice of the action, raising my personal performance bar a notch or two, stepping up to the plate, creating a ‘bigger life’.

Yet how many of us(like I have been in the past) are content inside our zone, our bubble, fearful of venturing too far in case we get hurt. We tend to compromise and settle for less.

“Greed” has nasty connotations and in it’s pure form, I agree. However, if you are struggling with getting what you rightly deserve, then it may be time to release the “greed mongrel” in you…..(it’s OK I’m Australian so I can get away with that type of language) and go and get what you really deserve.

But seriously, if you do in most (if not all) cases end up with ‘less’ then don’t you think it’s time for you to settle for more ?

21 more Self Discovery Questions for the 40+’s……enriching your Mid Life Journey in 2012

I posted 21 Self Discovery Questions to enrich your Mid Life Journey in April of last year & it has been my most viewed to date. Time to add some more “self discovery” & update you to the 2012 version.

Upon reaching the age of 40 & beyond, many will take the time to reflect…..of what has passed and what is to come. You may have a Vision of where your Life is heading OR you may not.

Either way, choices will need to be made, direction to be followed or indeed,sought.

Some questions that you may wish to consider to help you on your way…….

  • Am I happy with the way things are now
  • Will my current ‘choices’ get me to where I want to be
  • Do I commit to taking action to achieve what I really want
  • Are my thoughts helping me
  • Am I aware of any limiting beliefs that will stand in my way
  • Do I make excuses
  • Do I consider myself a Victim of circumstance or do I take personal responsibility for my Life

When one takes full responsibility for their Life, any prior obstacles or distractions are now seen as opportunities, to expand one’s view of Life.

  • Am I motivated to achieve what I want…..is the fire inside me well fueled
  • Do I appreciate myself
  • Do I need external motivation, a Coach or Mentor
  • What is my source of Inspiration…..do I have one (or many)
  • What three (3) important achievements will define this current year
  • Do my Values and Beliefs need reviewing…..are they still valid
  • Am I willing to raise the bar on my performance
  • Do I settle for less than I deserve
  • Is my ‘Big Picture’ complete or is it still a work in progress

This is an opportune time to complete your ‘picture’…..sketch it first if you have to and ‘paint’ it in later…..at least make a start.

  • Do I have support, people who I can rely on
  • Where do I want to be with my Life in 5 years
  • In 10 years time when I Iook back at my achievements, or lack of ‘action’, how will I feel
  • Is there anything stopping me from making progress on my Vision today
  • How will I feel, when my ” dream” comes alive

The Mid Life years are ones to be treasured. With the right thoughts, actions and dreams/visions one can “extend” their mid life beyond the generally accepted norms…..no time to dwell on ‘old age’ thoughts when you are flourishing in your mid life years…..let’s get to it!

11 Must Do’s that you can write on the palm of your hand & will make your 2012 a hit

…….or some of them at least will fit on your hand.

This is straight to the point, no mucking around type stuff. You want 2012 to be a standout?…….then please listen up. You need…..

  • Plenty of “Yes’s”…..YES I can do that
  • No excuses…..don’t try to find or manufacture a reason…..there isn’t one
  • Love what you do and love the people whom are in your inner circle
  • Always tell the truth…….to yourself
  • Be inquisitive…..explore the territory around you (open your eyes a little wider)
  • Say No when there’s “too much on your plate”
  • Don’t settle for less…..settle for more
  • Take the next step to being “outrageous” once in a while (shake out the cobwebs)…..it’s only a step away…..are you game?
  • Ask….. so that you can keep moving forward
  • Share….. for it will come back to you
  • Stick to your Game Plan

4 Simple Goal building steps that can be truly Life Changing

I was watching some pidgeons & doves in my backyard this morning scrounging through Getting off the groundleft over birdseed that I had thrown there. Apart from my usual amusement, it got me thinking ( oh no, not thinking again), about ” searching for crumbs” and scrounging or scraping out an existence, survival if you will.

There are times when we all feel that if we can just survive the day, week , month…..things will turn around. They can, most often with a change in thought process. However one can get stuck in “survival mode” where each day you man up or woman up, at the battlefront.

So, I thought that I would pen down some “survival” type tips that if worked on, will get you off the floor and on the road to “thrival”

Goal Number 1…..Have a Goal that will elevate you above ground. Walking the ground floor or even dwelling in the cellar are not the places to live your Life. It can be a simple goal, in fact the simpler the better. I want you to build some confidence. Just getting a goal established, will give impetus to new thought and new energy and will get you started!

Goal Number 2…..Set a Goal that will build on No 1….a “back to back” goal, a momentum builder. A Goal that will move you up the food chain, little by little if necessary however you must climb. Leave the pain (and comfort) behind. Pain & comfort are strange bed fellows, it’s amazing what hurt people go through to stay comfortable in their own world regardless of how poor a situation it is. So if you attempted Goal No1 and got yourself moving, with a little more effort, Goal No2 can have you elevating yourself even further.

Goal Number 3…..You are now floating above “the crumbs”…..you can see more light, new hope. You are energised and probably in some awe of what you have achieved….. or in shock. You may need a breather and soak in your success, that’s ok, however not for too long, further success awaits. Goal No3 is the goal that will cement your new thought processes. Start to get bold. You have gained some Traction and are stepping forward and building momentum

Whatever goals you selected @ 1&2 go a little bigger. You now have the hang of it, so keep climbing. If you need some support here, contact me & I will help you get there.

Goal Number 4….Develop your sense of direction and Purpose.

What? Where’s Goal No4?…..As a Life Coach, goals are expected to be a large part of what I do. Goals do have a vital part in setting up your Life provided they are established correctly. However I place greater importance on “having a sense of direction and purpose”, so for this post, this is my Goal No 4. This is not to diminish the 3 previous goals. In the situation that I have described for this post, these 3 steps were vital to get you moving from survival up the food chain.

However, be warned, setting and achieving goals may well get you “there” and that’s fine. If later on you find that “there” is not the “there” that you want, then it becomes a bit of a waste. Establish your direction before establishing your goals.

Doing this will then become purposeful, because you know where you are going and it will provide meaning to your Life because you are doing and going to a destination…….rather than “searching for crumbs”.
