Never give in – a musical interlude

You are only ever ‘beat’ when you give in, give up.

Stand up for what you believe…and be strong about it.

Life’s like that.

If you don’t believe strongly enough then you are at the mercy of others’ beliefs…much like a puppet on a string.

A piece of old Aussie rock goes perfectly with this theme…..

Be good to yourselves

Be your own Champion

I wrote a similar post earlier this year called Love what you do Become your own Guru.

And on this theme, I would like to introduce you to your own ”Champion self”.

Inside of you is a Champion, your own champion.

A Champion urging you on to greater things…..greater thoughts, greater actions, greater outcomes.

Tap into your inner Champion and bring out the best in yourself.

When you are in “Champion mode”, Life is a breeze.

So, how do you summon your Champion? How do you bring your Champion out (of hiding)?……read on please.

A Champion goes to the edge & is comfortable being out on the edge. A Champion has belief that the ‘edge’ has plenty of space. Space enough to do what needs to be created, needs to be be done.

You see, our Champion is in our thought system. Being aware that we all have Champion qualities is our key to bringing our Champion in to the open. Simply believe this & have faith that your champion will be there for you when you need him/her the most.

Our Champion probably doesn’t wear a cape, our Champion may seem unassuming. However don’t be fooled for when our Champion gets into stride, Champion things begin to occur, our thoughts become actionable without question, without delay.

Have you felt this at some time? You take immediate action, you are in control, you make things happen. These ‘things’ may seem insignificant to others maybe even to yourself, however your Champion mode is now in full throttle and you are cruising, creating & getting stuff done.

Think it, Believe it, Act upon it.

So when you feel a little flat, a little down…start thinking ‘champion thoughts’ because champions get stuff done that others don’t dare do…and you have that champion inside of you.

Be good to yourselves

Living Life Today – Is your Life Imaginary or Imaginationary?

Imaginary or Imaginationary? The Living Life Today series provides a platform to think about your Life as it is Now, enjoy what you have, review and create an even better future for tomorrow”….. Short, sharp & easily digestible.

Are you living in a world of “make-believe” or do you believe that you can make your world?

Imaginary stuff can be fun in the right context however isn’t helpful when it comes to your Life.

The difference between Imaginary & Imaginationary in my opinion, is that the latter(imaginationary) is creative…..and is then (largely) followed by action. Whereas the former(imaginary) forever remains in limbo, “wishing it would come true”.

Do you know people like that? You know, wishing things would change, wishing for a better Life, better luck etc,.

Those who create their worlds….. big, small, everyday type worlds, imagine what it will be like when it happens…..they create then take action…..they dream with intent (a fave of mine)

Imagination is one of our greatest strengths, when used correctly.

So when you are ‘Living your Life Today’ do you want to create or “wish” your way thru it?

I think a little creativity is in order, don’t you?

To set Goals or not to set Goals, this is the Question

Goal Setting

Goal Setting (Photo credit: lululemon athletica)

A great question and one in which I admit to bias… me being a Life Coach and proclaiming myself as a “Goal Achievement Specialist”.

However, it is fair to say that Goal setting is not for everyone.

People react differently & have different needs. Some (or many) thrive on having challenges, want to achieve more & goal setting provides the ideal vehicle with which to do this.

There are others, well, who are simply happy to drift along “hoping” for the best… though this “hoping” thing is not recommended as a stand-a-lone strategy.

Then there are some who will “drift”, “flow”, “meander” or similar but with some purpose and direction.

Now on this. Beware, “Drifting” may seem a very relaxed way of life however you can only ‘drift so far from the shore’. Without goals or direction (or purpose) you may be at the mercy of the elements.

Which leads me to another point. ‘Direction’ or as I sometimes call it… ‘intentional meandering’, with a sprinkle of purpose

Is it possible to have no specific goals… however have a definite direction for your life and still live the life that you aspire to?… let’s have a closer look at this.

You see, some people see setting goals as setting you up for disappointment. I don’t see it that way but some do. I believe setting goals correctly will help you achieve what you want. Incorrect goal setting methods will likely do the opposite and you will be dissappointed.

However I am also of the belief that having ‘direction’ /intentional meandering’ is also of great benefit, for the right people and for the right reasons – if you have your personal compass set to where you want to go and always keep your compass bearing (your purpose & direction) in mind, setting specific goals may only be a distraction to you.

This I suggest will work well for those who show great discipline.

However I believe for most, regular effective Goal Setting will deliver the achievement of meaningful goals and a meaningful life with the added flexibility of establishing as many , or few of them as you desire.

You can then keep a close eye on your progress/journey through life and make the necessary adjustments along the way.

What do you think?…..Are you a Goal Setter or a Purposeful Meanderer?

Is Time on your side or is it slipping away without notice?

Enjoy“Time” was something I included in my last post. It’s something that I have been much more accutely aware of in recent years.

As I flip the pages on the calendar of my Life, I am much more appreciative of what “time” has offered to me and how precious it is to me now, tomorrow, next week & so on.

Time is running thru the hourglass for us all.

How often do you think about this?

“Time” is often taken for granted by many as if it is a seemingly infinite resource that we can tap into at any time(excuse the pun), much like withdrawing available funds from our bank account when we need it.

However there will come a “time” (sorry) for all of us when that resource will become dry and there will be no overdraft available .

The present moment is our only guaranteed time here. Taking more time (pun intended) to enjoy, reflect, live life in the present moment is one that should be taken very seriously.

So when you hear the voice inside you or other people say….”another time”, “haven’t got the time …”, “wish I had the time…”, “If only there was time…”, “There’s not enough time”,

consider this…..how are you spending your time now?

Consider the things that are really important to you and prioritise the time accordingly.

Live in the now, think in the now, dream & visualise in the now because life is a series of “now” moments….. not yesterday or tomorrow moments but “now” moments – live your life, enjoy your life, Now.

What are you doing now?

Can I suggest that you prioritise some time to have a read of these marvellous posts from some fellow blogging friends of mine:

Living Life Today – Time and true friends are both precious

Time can get away

The Living Life Today series provides a platform to think about your Life as it is Now, enjoy what you have, review and create an even better future for tomorrow”….. Short, sharp & easily digestible.

I’ve just returned from spending 3 days in Sydney. My wife and I caught up with old friends and relatives from our extended families, most of whom we hadn’t seen for about 3 years….some, a lot longer than that.

Talk invariably got to our children, how old they now were, what they were doing etc, Many of us are in our fifties (it was a friend’s 50th birthday bash that had us going there in the first place) and the realisation that we and our children are ‘moving on’ in Life so quickly made us realise that we need to see each other on a much more regular basis.

Apart from drinking too many Corona’s, the weekend went great. My brothers & sisters-in-law are counted as my friends as well as the friendships that have been built up over the past 35 years with others who we saw on the weekend.

This weekend re – affirmed to me this Life lesson (and it may do for you)…..

True Friendship is a powerful bond & is prescious and “time” can be a powerful enemy if not used wisely…..it slips away…..don’t let your friendships do the same.

A new (Mid Life) day dawns

A New Day dawnsA somewhat poetic piece is offered for critique by the blogging Universe this day. This post is a little contrary to my usual however a “change of pace” is warranted at times.

I guess I was carried away by my feelings and felt it necessary “to let it out”…..

Humour me if you will and/or ‘picture’ yourself and your feelings as a new day dawns for you. As I journey thru my Mid Life years, each day that dawns has added significance for me. I hope that it does for you too, regardless of which stage of Life that you are currently enjoying.

“The sun is shining and the landscape is coming alive before my very eyes.

My senses are stimulated as every fibre of my body reacts to the life around me.

As I breathe in this wonder, my thoughts turn to the joy of the moment and gratitude wells within me. How can negativity exist when so many positives surround me?

Slow down from the rapid pace of life, dwell and absorb the moment

Let time stand still and focus on the quiet inside of you and the serenity that surrounds you.

Then re-awaken & be grateful that you can enjoy this moment and those to follow

You can feel truly alive and your fears, your worries, your missgivings are merely apparitions.”

Living Life Today – Never be afraid to ask

The Living Life Today series provides a platform to think about your Life as it is Now, enjoy what you have, review and create an even better future for tomorrow”….. Short, sharp & easily digestible.

Being a Life Coach or as I prefer to be known, Life Solutions Specialist (because that’s what I provide), I speak with many who find themselves stuck on something. Not unusual.

But hey, here’s the thing. I have found people will beat themselves up either trying to find a way forward by themselves & often be frustrated by failing to do so Or….. give up completely, then be down on themselves for being a ‘failure’.Surrounded by water

Yet….when we talk about this together, the ‘answer’ usually becomes blindingly obvious.

So being down on yourself, frustrated by not being able to ‘solve your problem’ is completely unnecessary….we have all been there.

Sharing your ‘problem’ does have it’s benefits.

The lesson: Don’t be an island…..ask for help
